You Too Can Attend Stanford’s Writing Program
Standord University offers several writing courses online, allowing anyone, anywhere to participate. Enrollment in each course is limited to 15.
The next round of courses begin on 25 June, with one “class” a week, and continues for 8 weeks. Most of the work can be done at the student’s convenience, taking about 5-8 hours a week. Class discussion among students and teacher take place in chatrooms, also allowing time flexibility. The instructor, however, does hold “office hours” once a week at set hours, faciliting real-time interchange with students.
Courses are relatively expensive at $600, costing more than continuing education classes offered on campus. The online courses, however, are significantly smaller and require more personal attention from the instructor.
The next round of classes are:
- Crafting Poems:Â Exploring the Elements of Poetry
- Short Story Writing:Â The Teller’s Tools
- Novel Writing:Â Making A Grand Debut
- Bloodlines:Â Researching and Writing From Family History
- Writing Historical Fiction
