Exploring New Routes To Writing Income
Sometimes I visit blogs to read the latest posts. Sometimes I visit to study the blog as a whole: how is it structured, what options other than posts are offered, how does the blogger market the blog and its ancillary services. There’s a lot of learn from both approaches.
With The Inkwell Editorial Blog, I read it from both points of view.
Today’s post, for example, explores a very little known genre of writing which is wide-open for newcomers brave enough to learn the ropes — SEO writing. What’s that, you ask? Visit the blog to find out — you’ll find a link to a full explanation. And you will also learn how an experienced freelancer broke into a brand new field, going from 0 clients to several paying $250 for short articles within 3 weeks. In her post, blogger Yuwanda Black offers advice that is actually applicable to many other areas of free-lance writing, as well. You’ll learn from it, even if you never set foot in the SEO territory.
I also examined today at Inkwell beyond the post itself. I was amazed to see that within three weeks, Yuwanda has produced an e-book — for sale, of course, not so expensive at $9.95 — with much more detail about SEO writing, website creation and marketing. The e-book is published in PDF format, something that any of us can do without too much effort beyond the writing itself, and at little expense. Click to order, and you discover a list of twelve e-books for sale! All look interesting. Yuwanda has set up a “shopping cart” to faciliitate purchase, with payment via PayPal. [ I’m wondering, has she done an e-book telling us how to set up similar shopping carts? ] Here’s a real case study in alternative routes to income from writing.
Sometimes, at blogs and websites, you learn something you do NOT want to do. At Inkwell, I’ve learned that I never want to highlight text in a dark color — it’s difficult to read!

Tom:
Thanks for blogging about my post on SEO writing. Don’t know to which section you’re referring, but sorry about highlighted text in a dark color.
I enjoy your writing style — breezy, yet informative.
Happy holidays,
