In need of a chuckle?

It never occurred to me that this blog would attract a stand up comedian — but, hey, they gotta write too, especially during the WGA strike!

Through the magic of StumbleUpon, I’ve discovered 27-year-old New York comedienne Lucy Dee, who it turns out reads this blog.  Of course, she has a blog too, posted under the name Standup101, which I just visited.  If you need a late night chuckle, check out the quest for comedic stardom.

Take this post as a lesson:  Stumble Upon yields good results, and writers who blog or have a writer’s website should sign up.   I caught the fever after reading a informative post at Newest on the Net indicating that this facility is undoubtedly the best available for stumbling upon like-minded people, a “blogger’s secret weapon.”

Is this like MySpace or Facebook, a social networking site? It looks interesting! Not sure if there’s time to do more social networking though… Thanks for sharing this!

Kristi, it’s not at all like the usual social networking sites. Basically, it allows one to mark sites and blog entires you like. The service over time gets to know your tastes and will recommend similar sites to visit. I’ve discovered some good sites via this service. The energetic will “look under the hood” of the service, where one can forge links with other internet users and can discover people who have flagged your blog. StumbleUpon does not take the time commitment of Facebook or MySpace. Worth a look, once you have a site or blog to share.

Thank you, Mr. Colvin, for the highly appreciated nod! I am an avid reader. After all, I’m writing comedy, seriously. I hope this 2008 brings you all the best!
