I’ve now spent several evenings in tutorial sessions at the PowerMac Center here in Manila, as well as devoted some hours to scouring the internet. I’m beginning to think that purchase of an iMac is a better choice for me than buying another PC.
The main consideration: the iMac can run both the Mac Operating System, as well as Windows, two computers in one, more or less. In fact, one can run both systems simultaneously via the software Parallels and drag-and-drop information back and forth. That functionality may well solve my dilemma.
For a quick introduction to this remarkable capability, you can read an easy-to-understand explanation at Lifehacker. Particularly interesting is the short video demonstration — REMARKABLE. Take a look.
Mind you, the iMac is an expensive choice. I can buy a new PC with all I need for one-half the price.
I’ve explored that option too, wondering if the Mac OS can run on a PC with help from appropriate software. Well, it can. But from what I read, that option is nowhere as smooth-running as the other way around.
more thoughts later in the week…
NOTE: I’ve noticed that my WordPress blog theme has suddenly started conking out, displaying a blank screen even though the theme remains active. I hope this has not inconvenienced anyone. I’ll try to monitor this. At this point, my theme has been sufficiently customized that my blog doesn’t display properly on the other themes in my library.
