My Favorite Sources About The Writing Life
There are countless websites for writers, too many frankly to deal with. Over the months, I’ve identified my favorites , many of which I’ve written about on this blog. Here I collect the best of the best, for easy reference — the list will slowly grow over time.
FOR EVERYONE
The Writer’s Perspective — a free-roaming blog by the editor of Writer’s Digest, Maria Schneider.
The Writer’s Technology Companion — This blog runs parallel content to the one I maintain, with product reviews, tutorials and advice about utilizing the web for marketing. It’s maintained by a stalwart in the blog world who has managed the highly successful Lifehack.org community for several years.
Discover Fire — Jeremy Osborne, a writer with lots of experience in the software and internet worlds, offers electic posts, among them some of the best demo’s of open-source software of particular interest to writers.
Daily Writing Tips — Claiming almost 3000 email subscribers, this blog delivers brief tips about the process of writing, such as words of the day, notices about writing events, points about grammar.
National Book Critics Circle — The NBCC has been around since 1974 and has 700 active members from around the US. Its website offers an incredibly useful and quite extensive page of links, pointing one toward book-oriented blogs, various review sections, book-related magazines and online publications, and other book-related sites. Its blog Critical Mass is quite active, with postings from many sources.
Renegade Writer — Useful tips in the blog, plus e-books, courses and other useful learning opportunities.
Web Content Writing Tips — One of the most prolific bloggers. I like it because it often posts items about writer’s tools and resources.
FOR FICTION WRITERS
Fiction Factor — One of the reasons I like this site is that it does not inundate one with too much information and clutter. Readers can subscribe to a once-a-month e-newsletter, always full of good information but infrequent enough that it’s arrival is always welcome.

The Golden Pencil – Another blog with advice, as well as job opportunities for freelancers. Has several excellent lists of links of interest to writers.
