The folks at the Lifehacker Blog have uncovered a very interesting website which may appeal to aspiring writers.
Scribd allows anyone to upload documents for others to read. Documents can be in Word, Excel, PDF, even mp3 format. Once you upload a document, others can view it online — or download it. The site allows readers to make comments and indicate that they like it.
Writers, for their part, can monitor how many people have read their documents, where they come from and other stats.
The site is in its early days, but is already attracting traffic. Beware, however, as there is some X-rated material there.
The site may eventually develop a loyal following and become a legitimate route to recognition. Or, it may fade away as irrelevant. For the time being, it’s worth a look.

Yep, you hit the nail right on the head.
I just discovered Scrib’d a couple of days ago and I love it. The only problem with the views is it still has a few kinks. The site also has a LOT of adult content, which according to their blog they are trying to minimize.
Anyway, I wish more people knew of this website. I’ve already gotten at least 73 views on my document. However, I have yet to get any comments…. :_(
So, like you I saw the potential to publish stuff for the fun of it, without having to go through the writing industry “rigmarole.”
Thanks for reading,
