Follwoing the holiday frenzy, I’m still catching up with my perusal through over 150 blogs and websites for the best information relevant to writers. Here are some more discoveries. To see all of the items I’ve marked to share,go to Tom’s Shared Items.
Index of Freeware Programs
Paperback Writer posted a categorized list of freeware programs that might be useful to writers at one time or another. The list is rather intimidating by itself, but hovering a cursor over each title brings up a brief description.
I’ve only just discovered this blog. Novelists among us will find it particularly interesting, and other writers will find plenty of useful information as well. The blog, among other things, looks into tools and resources that will help writers, a subject that is, of course, dear to my own heart.
Useful Font Manager
A discussion at DonationCoder led me to a very useful Font Manager called Cfont Pro. If you take particular care in formatting your documents, this software utility may be useful. This utility is DonationWare. I’ve installed it myself and find the Preview All Fonts window and the Character Map to be most useful for me.
Accounting Basics for Freelancers
Freelance Switch carries a guest post entitle Accounting Basics for Freelancers. Another blogger, commenting on this post, recommends QuckBooks as an essential tool to keep track of billings, rather than tracking things manually. This software is one that accountants often use, facilitating end-of-year assistance with an annual overview and with taxes.

Thanks for a terrific link. I love checking out free programs and trials. As he reminds us, always download to a disk and scan them for viruses before putting them on our hard drives. Some of my favorite–and most helpful–programs over the years have been free!
