During my time at the San Francisco Writers Conference weekend before last, I learned about a most interesting website for any writer who has published a book. It’s called simply BookTour. Here’s a snippet of the site creator’s description:

BookTour.com was founded in late 2006 by three authors who were also avid readers and believers that technology can transform how authors and their book find receptive groups of readers. We’re a free online service that connects authors on tour and potential audiences of all sorts, from book lovers to professional groups.”

The site offers a handy way to get the word out about your book and whatever promotional events you have planned for it. With this tool in your arsenal, you can approach bookstores in your area to request a book signing, offering to advertise the event via BookTour. Chances are they’ve already learned about the service, but if they haven’t, they will be intrigued.

Check it out, sign up for a free account, and go out and sign some books.
