If you are the least bit open to experimenting with a new word processor, jump on this opportunity IMMEDIATELY. Giveaway of the Day has arranged — for TODAY ONLY — a free download of a remarkable word processor designed especially for writers: Liquid Story Binder XE.
At the very least, visit the giveaway website. Read it thoroughly, including the overwhelmingly positive user reviews. Also read my own fairly thorough review from last March. Take a look at the software’s homepage.
This offer is timely, as it offers me an opportunity to answer, at least partially, Katherine’s question that was posted on the blog earlier this week in a comment:
I only discovered your blog a couple of months ago, so perhaps you’ve covered this already and I just missed it, but I have to ask: what are some of the typical features of a special “writer” word processor that would make it superior to just using a regular one? My day job involves a lot of technical writing, and we have different templates for each type of document we need to do. All the formatting gets done more or less automatically so we can concentrate on the content. But all the templates are used in the same word processor.
I can think of no word processor that better illustrates just how different a word processor specialized for writers can be. And this one is truly and refreshingly different, with storyboarding, plot outlining, dossiers, chapter and book backups, and more. As I wrote in my earlier review, this software truly creates a writing “environment.” It will appeal especially to creative, rather than business writers.
Other word processors for writers feature some similar features. Character and scene reference notes, index-card storyboarding, word analysis to uncover overuse of individual words are some of the useful features. If all this intrigues you, go to this blog’s Table of Contents on the sidebar and browse through the sections in the Putting Words on Paper sections.
NOTE: During installation, be sure to cut the Registration Code and paste it into the appropriate place under the About tab of the software.
