The announcement today by the Publisher’s Weekly email newsletter simply takes my breath away. That doesn’t happen very often.
Thriller novelist Clyde Ford has just published his fifth novel Precious Cargo. In a publishing breakthrough, Ford has devised a way to take the reader direct from the book to the actual scenes he’s describing, harnessing Microsoft’s Virtual Earth or Google Earth via his own software OnScene. He has also crafted a 20-minute supplementary video, featuring well-known actors such as Morgan Freeman. For the moment, this accomplishment is truly unique — and it may point the way to more multi-media integration into future books.
I think all writers need to visit the PW article and to spin out from there to the links provided. Or you can visit my Amazon storefront, where you can buy the book. Or visit Amazon directly, which takes you to reviews as well as links to the multi-media supplements, including even a classical guitar performance of a song featured in the book. This is truly exciting.
