In a shocking announcement reported earlier this week in the New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor disclosed that it will close down its print operations and by April of next year continue as an online publication only.
The century-old newspaper is the first major American newspaper to stop its presses.
This announcement gives added poignancy to the upcoming online seminar about the future of journalism, sponsored in part by the Monitor itself. Over a month ago, I wrote in advance a post which will appear momentary about this conference.
