I am pleased to introduce you to my new blog co-editor Eva Hunter. Her arrival is very timely for this blog. Last week I announced that the route to publication is easier than ever — there’s really no remaining excuse not to be published. But I also pointed to a couple of new challenges:
- First, we need to complete a manuscript. I can personally tell you that this is perhaps the hardest of all to do. I’m still struggling with getting my own very important book written.
- Second, once published we must be the ones to promote and market our own books.
I will be turning my attention in this blog to the second of the challenges.
Eva Hunter, who is a a published writer and experienced writing coach, will be blogging about the first and foremost of these challenges. She will be taking this blog into a new dimension. I myself will be one of her most avid readers.
So that you know a little bit more about her, here’s some quick background information.
Eva Hunter is an award-winning writer who has published professionally for over 20 years. Her area of specialization is short and long literary nonfiction, but she also writes literary fiction. She has taught creative writing as faculty at Portland State University, at the Art Museum School of Portland, and privately in both the United States and Mexico. A popular writing conference speaker, she is co-founder of the Portland, Oregon based Connexus, The Writer’s School, and The Writer’s Workshop: San Miguel in Mexico.
Eva’s writing credentials include The New York Times Magazine, Redbook, Quii, The Quarterly, Northwest Magazine, Oregon Magazine, Portland State Magazine and many others. Eva’s most recent publications are the literary nonfiction book, Lord of the Dolls: Voyage In Xochimilco, and the short story, “Iris Wanted to be A Movie Star: The Kind That Sings and Dances, Too,” which was included in the anthology, Solamente En San Miguel. She is currently working on a memoir, with the working title, “A Little Mormon Girl.”
Eva Hunter currently teaches courses in memoir, magazine and newspaper writing, travel writing, fiction, and literary nonfiction in Mexico, and in other countries. Planned for the first week of May, 2010 is a special food and travel writing workshop/food tour in combination with well-known cooking school instructor and international food-tour guide, Kris Rudolph—in the Umbria/Tuscany regions of Italy.

for freelance writers, freelance coders, freelance webmasters, freelance designers, and almost anything relating to freelancing. There are prose writing contests and creative-writing competitions there,too, so you might be of your interest. And the prizes are reasonable and the payment system credible. Aside from saying that your entry’s worth my following, im inviting you to join in the said site.
