Anyone who follows this blog closely knows that we believe this is a golden age for writers. There are so many routes to publication in addition to the traditional big print publishing house. Two more routes have come onto the scene.
Flat World Knowledge arrived on the scene just last spring. It offers an extraordinary concept: FREE TEXTBOOKS ONLINE. And it actively enlists writers to contribute books to its catalog.
Now why would any writer want to do such a thing? Particularly when textbooks are considered one of the most profitable arenas for writers. Passion for one’s subject, of course. And perhaps the fame one might gather, since Flat World Knowledge is set up so that teachers can direct their students to selected books. There’s also a bit of a financial incentive: anyone wanting a printed version, or downloaded version, can get one for a small fee. It’s worth checking out.
For more information, read Number of Students, Colleges Using Flat World Knowledge Digital Texts Soars at Publisher’s Weekly.
