Months ago I was dismayed with Amazon terminated its Amazon Shorts program. Writers used to be able to publish short stories, essays and other short writings for download at prices ranging from free to about $1.98, if I recall it correctly. What a great opportunity that was — and I blogged about it several times.
In mid-October, Amazon announced its new program: Kindle Singles. Here’s the press release.
Of course, several major sites jumped on the story. For further detail, check out the Related Articles:

On the positive time, Tom, this will allow budding writers to get to a wider audience with the app available for iphone, Blackberry etc which seems to be the way things are going. I would give anything to get published like that, a great way to get into the digital generation of readers.
Loving your blog and site, very inspirational. I even mentioned you in my first ever blog if you’d care to take a look.
Please keep up the fantastic work you are doing for the writing world.
