I’ve talked about SoftMaker Office before on this blog.  I bought the 2008 version some time ago and use it from time to time when I get fed up with Microsoft Word.  I’ve come to like it as a Word alternative — and I like it better than OpenOffice, which simply hasn’t inspired me that much.  One of its pluses is its compatibility with the various Microsoft Office formats. The product was developed in Germany and is very popular in Europe.

Well, in the spirit of Christmas, SoftMaker is offering the 2008 version as a FREE DOWNLOAD — plus the company makes a small donation to charity for every download.  Of course, the company hopes you will become hooked on the product and will eventually upgrade and pay for the current 2010 version.

If you give this software a try, please let us know what you think of it.
