Websites

It is so easy to become overwhelmed with information and links to websites. On this page, I will single out what I consider the best websites for writers. They are chosen because of consistently fine and helpful content, with an emphasis on helping writers become more productive and knowledgeable about the writing life. GENERAL SITES FOR WRITERS:

JUICED ON WRITING:

Michelle Thompson’s blog is one of my very favorites.  Packed with information that will help you become more productive as a writer.

The Internet Writing Journal has been publishing online for over 10 years. It is an excellent source of information about the world of writing.

101 BEST WEBSITES FOR WRITERS

Writer’s Digest publishes each spring its list of the 101 Best Websites for Writers. Even better is to look at the list online, where you will find links to past years’ lists as well. This is certainly one of the best resources for writers available anywhere.

MEDIA BISTRO

In my book, MediaBistro is a “must-read” every day. I subscribe to its email newsletter, which I review every morning, often clicking through to the website itself for more information. This free site offers news stories relevant to writers and online and offline workshops and courses by highly qualified teachers [I've participated in several]. It offers a premium membership, called AvantGuild, that allows one access to its respected How To Pitch series. Here you will also find the most comprehensive and up-to-date listing of jobs for writers anywhere. Writers can also place their own resume online — here’s mine — and I can personally confirm that editors do consult these pages when looking for writers.

ABSOLUTE WRITE

Absolute Write is simply one of the best website/newsletters aimed at writers.

PODDY MOUTH – DAILY DIRT ON POD AND SELF-PUBLISHING

PODdy Mouth is a highly opinionated and well-informed blog about Print-on-Demand and self-publishing. I consider it a must-read for anyone hoping to have a book published.
