Marketing Your Book

Now that self-publishing is becoming so pervasive, more and more writers are realizing that they must market and promote their books themselves.  It’s a daunting task, one that makes most writers cringe.

There’s plenty of help available, with expert advice, books, websites and blogs popping up like mushrooms.  Here are some of the better advisors and sites I’ve come across.

ADVISORS

STEVE HARRISON

Steve has been around quite a while giving advice to writers.  He’s responsible for the influential Radio-TV Interview Report, through which he has built an awesome network.

Among writers, he’s best known for his Million Dollar Author Club.  Some writers wince at his hard-sell tactics and his strategy to place a book on the Amazon Top Ten list.  I, however, recommend that you sign up.  This will get you on his email list.  Yes, you will get a lot of email from him, BUT along the way, you will be invited to sign up for free “teleseminars.”  These, I have found, are usually extremely informative and mind-expanding — and they don’t cost a dime.

His paid services don’t come cheap.  Only the serious author with a quality product, who is seeking substantial success, will wish to engage him or attend his seminars.  But certainly every writer with a book to sell and promote should know about him.

JOHN KREMER

Another seasoned advsier in book marketing, Kremer is author of 1001 Ways to Market Your Book, first published in 1989 and now in its sixth edition — available at his website and at Amazon.  He also from time to time offers hs Book Marketing Blast-Off Seminars.  Kremer’s website Bookmarket offers a lot of free information and tips.  He also has other resource books, along with mp3’s and pdf’s from his seminars.  He’s a kingpin worth knowning about.

DANA LYNN SMITH:  The Savvy Book Marketer

Formerly known as The Bookmarketing Maven, The Savvy Book Marketer, a fine ezine and blog, is an excellent resource regarding book marketing.
